A doorstep into spanish history.
The Maserof is a typical 17th century farmhouse in the Sierra Bernia Mountains. It was restored to its former majesty by Peter Pateman, an englishman who set his foot into spain over 40 years ago.

The Maserof lies in a former Alicante wine producing zone which was ravaged about 60 years ago by "rust" a plant desease that destroyed the vines together with its economy.
The former vineyards were left to lie fallow and die. When replanting eventually came the Maserof was ignored and Vineyards were established in the Jalon valley.

Until one day in the early 1970s Peter Pateman started to restore Maserof and re-establish wine cultivation in the Bernia slopes.Beginning with only a dozen folk who helped him, the first pure natural red wine was produced and while his helpers were sharing Peters enthusiasm the Maserof Wine Club was founded.Today the Maserof Wine Club has over 1500 members and is known worldwide for its chemical free natural wine. Within the Maserof estate lies the Museum where you can find exceptional artefacts of spanish history, Peter's art gallery with paintings made by the "Maserof Man" himself and the Bodega with its barrels full of wine.

During the past 5 years the Maserof has also witnessed new events, such as mariages and private festivities, which can be booked by everyone not only club members. Courses on painting, ceramics and pottery are held and art exhibitions have taken place. We constantly work on improvements, new ideas and are also open for your suggestions.
